Description

LEGAL & BA LAWYER
3-6 YEARS PQE
MEDIA/TECHNOLOGY/IMMERSIVE ENTERTAINMENT
SOLE LAWYER, LONDON

We are looking for a commercially minded, intellectually curious lawyer to help shape the next chapter of an ambitious, fast-growing creative business operating at the intersection of entertainment, technology and immersive experiences.

You don’t need to come from a traditional media law background. If you’re a proactive lawyer with experience in TMT, gaming, commercial IP, technology or transactional law, and you’re passionate about storytelling, innovation and the creative possibilities of technology, we’d love to hear from you.

The Opportunity

This is a sole in-house lawyer role, reporting to the Managing Director, with access to external legal support when needed. You will work closely with production, distribution and senior management, taking ownership of a broad range of legal and business affairs matters in a collaborative, non-hierarchical environment. From negotiating content and commercial deals to advising on emerging technologies, AI and strategic partnerships, you’ll have genuine influence, considerable variety and the opportunity to help a business push creative boundaries.

You will

  • Lead on commercial agreements: Draft and negotiate contracts across film, television, digital, immersive experiences, technology, music and publishing.
  • Support creative ambition: Advise on development, production, distribution, licensing, IP rights, clearances and content exploitation.
  • Drive innovative deals: Structure and negotiate partnerships, joint ventures and bespoke commercial arrangements with UK and international counterparties.
  • Navigate emerging technology: Advise on AI, data protection, privacy, digital content and the legal challenges created by new platforms and business models.
  • Partner with the business: Provide pragmatic, commercially focused advice to senior management and colleagues across the organisation.
  • Manage risk intelligently: Handle general corporate, employment and contentious matters, bringing in external counsel where appropriate.
  • Own the legal function: Maintain effective contract and rights management processes, monitor legal developments and manage relationships with external legal advisers.

You will be

A qualified lawyer who combines strong technical ability with curiosity, initiative and a genuine interest in how creativity and technology intersect.

You might be:

  • An established media, entertainment or business affairs lawyer with experience across content, IP and commercial deals.
  • A TMT, gaming, technology or commercial IP lawyer keen to apply your expertise in a more creative, content-driven environment.
  • A transactional lawyer who enjoys complex negotiations, solving unfamiliar problems and working closely with the business to make ambitious ideas happen.

What matters most is how you think, not just where you’ve worked.

You will bring sound commercial judgement, excellent drafting and negotiation skills, and the confidence to operate autonomously as the business’s sole in-house lawyer, while recognising when specialist external support is needed.  Candidates must be proactive, pragmatic and comfortable balancing legal risk with creative and commercial objectives.

Experience in media production, content rights, licensing, digital platforms, AI or immersive technology would be valuable, but we’re open to lawyers with transferable experience and the intellectual curiosity to learn.
