SENIOR LEGAL COUNSEL – CONTENT LEGAL

A leading global media & entertainment business is looking for an experienced Content Legal lawyer to join its UK Business & Legal Affairs team.
This is a high-profile, genuinely content-facing legal role advising on some of the most challenging and fast-moving issues across TV, streaming and digital content. You’ll work closely with producers, commissioning editors, and senior stakeholders, providing practical pre-clearance advice from development and production through to broadcast and online publication.

We’re particularly interested in lawyers with strong programme/media pre-clearance experience. Experience in-house at a broadcaster or within a news/media publisher will be very helpful.

Your experience is likely to include:

• Programme/content pre-clearance and editorial legal advice
• • Ofcom Broadcasting Code and regulatory compliance
  • Defamation, privacy and contempt
  • Copyright, IP and data protection
  • Pre- and post-broadcast / publication advice
  • Handling complaints and Ofcom investigations
  • Advising on sensitive factual, current affairs, documentary, drama, true crime or live content
  • Working at pace with editorial and creative teams

Experience of media litigation is desirable, but the key requirement is excellent programme/content clearance and media regulatory expertise, combined with sound commercial judgement and a practical, solutions-focused approach. A genuine interest in freedom of expression, editorial decision-making and the fast-moving world of media will be crucial.

You’ll need to be a qualified solicitor or barrister. We are seeking a lawyer with ideally 8 years’ PQE, however, we will consider exceptional candidates with a minimum of 4 years’ PQE who can demonstrate strong relevant experience.
