An exciting role has been created for an exceptional Senior Manager, Music, Business & Legal Affairs to join the London based team.
This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in shaping the music strategy and legal framework behind high-profile deals for various purposes, including productions across EMEA.
As part of a highly regarded international legal and business affairs team, you will partner closely with senior stakeholders in both London and the US, supporting a diverse slate of original, licensed, and acquired content.
The Role
You will take ownership of both business affairs and legal matters across a broad range of music-related projects, including:
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of music agreements (including composer, songwriter, producer, and music supervisor agreements, as well as sync and master use licences)
- Leading negotiations with rights holders, record labels, publishers, and collecting societies
- Advising on music rights, clearances, and usage across productions, marketing, promotions, and distribution
- Overseeing the music clearance process and ensuring compliance with internal policies
- Providing strategic legal advice on copyright and intellectual property matters
- Supporting payments and financial obligations related to music agreements
- Conducting legal research and analysing complex agreements to assess rights and risk
- Reviewing audio and audiovisual content for clearance issues
- Developing and maintaining standard form agreements
About You
You will be a qualified lawyer with strong experience in music law, ideally gained in-house within a streaming platform, broadcaster, studio, or a leading law firm.
Key skills and experience include:
- c 4-8 PQE with demonstrable experience of handling music-related legal matters
- Strong knowledge of EU music regulations, directives and rights frameworks
- Proven ability to negotiate and draft complex agreements end-to-end
- Excellent analytical, drafting, and problem-solving skills
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of the entertainment industry
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- A collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential matters
