An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially minded Legal & Business Affairs Lawyer to join a highly regarded independent factual production company, working at the intersection of television, film and immersive storytelling.

This is an in-house role for a lawyer with a strong background in TV production, who thrives on negotiating complex deals, navigating content rights and working closely with creative and commercial teams to bring ambitious projects to life. 
 
The Opportunity

Working directly with the Managing Director, you will be responsible for a broad range of legal and business affairs matters. From negotiating production and distribution agreements to advising on international partnerships and emerging technologies, you’ll play a central role in supporting the company’s continued growth.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Drafting and negotiating a wide range of agreements across television, film, digital and immersive content.
• Advising on development, production, commissioning, distribution, licensing and content rights.
• Working closely with production and creative teams on talent, contributor, composer, contractor, location and access agreements.
• Providing practical legal and commercial advice on rights clearances, compliance and business affairs issues.
• Supporting international deals and partnerships with broadcasters, distributors, cultural institutions and technology companies.
• Advising senior management on commercial initiatives, joint ventures, AI, data protection and other emerging legal issues.
• Managing external legal relationships and ensuring effective rights management across the business. 

 
About You

You will be a qualified lawyer with substantial experience in TV production, ideally gained in private practice and/or in-house.

You will have:

• A solid grounding in TV production agreements, commissioning, distribution and intellectual property rights.
• Proven experience negotiating and drafting complex commercial and media contracts.
• A commercially astute, solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to advise stakeholders at all levels.
• The ability to balance legal risk with creative ambition and business priorities.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, coupled with the initiative to work autonomously.

Experience in digital media, immersive content, technology, AI or software agreements would be an advantage, but TV production experience is the key priority.
