Our client is an entertainment & digital media company, a much loved and respected household name. It has launched an acclaimed start-up/ventures incubator, focussing on the 16-30 demographic. One of its fast-growing scale-ups is a digital brand and marketplace focussed on wellness: it is an exciting blend of a dynamic, entrepreneurial culture supported by well-established and stable marketing, media and branding capabilities, which are helping it gain market advantage. Owing to its accelerated and continued growth, we are recruiting the first dedicated in-house lawyer to join the team.
We are looking for a talented and commercial lawyer who will support the business on all its activities. This will include marketing, e-commerce, wholesale, supply & logistics, outsourcing & tenders, internet/new media, data privacy & IP, IT and consumer law. You will dual report to the management team while also enjoying support & mentoring from and escalation lines into the main business’s core legal team.
You will also help set up business & legal processes and standard form agreements for scale, creating frameworks and guidance to ensure compliance and governance in line with the wider business functions.
This is an exciting opportunity to be the lead legal contact, in a role which is highly integrated within the business.
We are looking for:
- A qualified lawyer with c. 2/3- 6 years’ PQE
- Suitable experience from an in-house or private practice environment, ideally:
- experience of fast moving, diverse and dynamic environment like a start up/ scale up.
- experience of the e-commerce/ marketplace industry.
Personality wise, we are looking for problem solvers who can effectively communicate legal concepts to multiple stakeholders within the business at all levels. You will be confident, robust and able to work independently while knowing when to seek advice or support and refer matters.
This is a full time role and presence in the office is anticipated 3 x week. The company is generally very flexible regarding working arrangements with a very employee-friendly and supportive culture.
