Our client is a US studio with offices in London who is expanding at a rapid rate with a huge focus on scripted TV productions.

They are looking for a business affairs specialist to add to their scripted and non-scripted television group. This role will also provide deal making services across all of the non-scripted series deals. You will own the negotiation of writer, producer, cast, production houses and other related deals and will work closely with legal affairs (a separate division) to assist in finalising agreements and dealing with production issues as they arise.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to effectively negotiate and interact with agents, managers and outside counsel and be able to efficiently communicate status and trade-offs with other members of the business teams including Creative, Production, Marketing, Accounting, Finance and Legal.

The successful candidate will have a comprehensive working knowledge of EU television industry agreements, guild regulations, contract law and intellectual property rights (as applicable to the entertainment industry), along with excellent drafting, negotiation, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and organisational skills. You must be able to manage a varied, high-volume workload efficiently and smoothly, operate autonomously within corporate parameters, and remain cool and level-headed in pressurised situations.

A successful candidate is expected to be able to work collaboratively with colleagues in this department and across the studio, build strong internal client relationships, effectively advise senior-level executives under time-sensitive conditions and generate client satisfaction through strategic thinking and risk analysis.

This role will be located in London and will report to the EU Business Affairs Lead.

You will be a qualified solicitor or equivalent and will have a thorough understanding of entertainment industry customs and practices with multiple years in entertainment deal making, representing or working for a major scripted production company, studio or network.

You will have experience in television development and marketing. You will have ideally worked within a studio, an independent production company, or an entertainment and media law firm, and must have extensive experience and strong skills in drafting and negotiating contracts. The right person will have an ability to analyse and assess business processes, spot issues and propose/implement solutions . You will be able to function autonomously yet communicate laterally and upwardly with ease.

You must be positive with a problem solving attitude. You will be results orientated and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
