Our client is a non-traditional advertising agency that does things differently. Fiercely proud of its independence and creative family, it has a global presence across Europe, North America and Asia and works with a selection of fantastic brands. The Legal Production Affairs team is a close-knit team who work incredibly well together.
The Head of Legal is looking for additional legal support to help with the broad range of contractual and advertising queries that arise daily and to provide cover during holidays. As well as looking after all legal matters for the business, our client supports a number of other businesses including a leading PR agency, a design agency, a creative agency and in-house production and film businesses. No two days are the same and the legal team have the ear of the stakeholders by adopting a solutions-oriented approach to problem solving. “No” is never the answer!

o reviewing music licensing dealing with labels/supervisors’ legal teams
o reviewing and understanding industry production agreements e.g. PIBS and the APA/IPA/ISBA tripartite agreement and
o reviewing internal agreements e.g. IT systems agreements, subscription agreements, purchase agreements, etc.
*Advisory work, particularly around clearing advertising ideas and executions. Ideally, you will have familiarity with the CAP/BCAP Codes, Consumer Protection Regulations, data protection, pre-litigious disputes, etc. and
*Looking after the company brand and its trade mark portfolio.
You will be a UK (or equivalent) lawyer with ideally 5 to 10 years’ PQE (but we will consider individuals who fall outside of this range who have the right experience). You will have demonstrable experience of drafting and negotiating commercial contracts (particularly within the advertising marketing sector) with good working knowledge of IP and advertising law (clearance and compliance).
Cultural fit will be key for this role. The company prides itself on being nimble, agile and highly commercial in its approach. You need to be a strategic and pragmatic lawyer rather than a black letter law traditionalist; and embracing the fun, inclusive and non-hierarchical way of working is really important.
Training and supervision will be provided where appropriate. As the role becomes established, there may be opportunities for the selected candidate to take on additional hours and roles/responsibilities so as to continue learning and developing.
This is a truly wonderful opportunity to work on a broad range of interesting work with smart and innovative people!
