Our client is a UK Regulator covering commercial activities across the Communications, Tech, Media and Marketing sectors. They are seeking to appoint an experienced Data Protection Officer to support the organisation’s General Counsel with ensuring their operations comply with UK and international Data Protection laws and regulations. This will be a part time role, consisting of 3 days per week.
The role will cover a broad commercial and regulatory compliance remit, including: reviewing, monitoring and updating Data ProtectionGDPR policies, processes and guidelines devising and delivering staff training carrying out periodical GDPR audits managing all requests and complianceled communication with the ICO and other Regulators handling data subject and FOI requests negotiating and drafting commercial contracts and assisting the legal team with other ad hoc commercial law matters. The role reports directly to the GC and will work closely with the wider legal team, executive committee, management and board members.
You will be a qualified Data Protection lawyer with experience commensurate with a minimum of circa 5 years’ PQE – gained from inhouse andor private practice. Broader expertise within TMT, Commercial and Corporate law is desirable. You will demonstrate intellectual rigour, exceptional attention to detail, and robust organisational skills. Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to varied audiences – regulators, staff, external advisers, members of the public – are paramount.
