COMMERCIAL IP/IT LAWYER
2-6 YEARS’ PQE
12 MONTH FTC – TEMP TO PERM POTENTIAL
WEST LONDON
ASAP START
Our client is a global media services and broadcasting business at the heart of the media and communications industry. All over the world, people enjoy a range of content which has been managed, broadcast, streamed and distributed through its services.
A 12 month contract has arisen for a commercial lawyer with IP and IT experience to join the legal team. This is a broad commercial role and we can consider candidates at 2-6 years’ PQE ideally. It would be helpful to have a longer term interest in the role and fit well within the team structure should it become permanent at the end of the fixed term.
You will (amongst other things):
- Draft, review and negotiate various kinds of business agreements and other legal documents, including those relating to: media distribution, playout, VOD and streaming services; access services; supply of creative products and services; production agreements (talent agreements, contributor forms, location agreements, media acquisition agreements); agreements for the supply of metadata and related services; agreements for the procurement, licensing and support of technology, hardware and solutions;
- Assist in rights clearance of content, advising generally on intellectual property rights (mainly copyright) ownership, infringement and licensing issues;
- Provide business structuring and business model support.
The successful candidate will be a bright and curious commercial lawyer with IP and IT experience. The role requires good experience in negotiating and drafting a range of commercial contracts, ideally some knowledge and experience in technology law (e.g. outsourcing, software licensing and SLAs) and good knowledge / experience of intellectual property law (in particular advising on copyright issues).
Your application would be further supported by knowledge of the media / broadcast industry and/or experience gained working within an in-house legal team.
The team is based in West London, although our client promotes flexible working and it is not expected that there will be a return to the office before September (and then likely to be on a rota system). The company is known for its friendly, collaborative and supportive working environment.
