FULL-TIME

A leading media company is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel (or Senior Legal Counsel) to join its Legal & Business Affairs team on a 12-month maternity cover contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of a dynamic global business known for producing and distributing world-renowned  content.

The Opportunity
In this pivotal role, you will support the company’s content distribution and production divisions, offering expert legal and commercial guidance on a wide variety of deals and partnerships across global markets. From negotiating content licensing deals to drafting production agreements, this position is ideal for a media lawyer with VOD and linear distribution experience (as well as production experience ideally) and a proactive, solution-driven mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and draft licensing and distribution agreements (TV, VOD, channels)
  • Support production teams on everything from talent agreements to location releases
  • Advise on regulatory, IP, AI, and child performance matters
  • Collaborate globally on high-impact deals and best practices

Skills

  • UK (or equivalent) qualified lawyer with a strong academic background and training from a leading law firm or established in-house legal team.
  • Ideally 5–8 years PQE (though candidates outside this range with the right experience are encouraged to apply).
  • Experience negotiating distribution agreements (VOD and linear), and understanding of TV rights and windowing structures.
  • Ideally knowledge of the full production lifecycle and legal considerations when working with talent, agents, and studios.
  • Excellent drafting, communication, and negotiation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative, commercially savvy and pragmatic team player with a sense of humour and the ability to stay calm under pressure.

This is a full-time role.
