An exciting opportunity has arisen for a TV or Film lawyer to join an award-winning production business on a temporary to permanent basis.
You will join the television and film production arm of this company, who are best known for creating globally recognised original content, ranging from documentaries to films and scripted series.
Responsibilities:
- You will be providing legal and business affairs support on various matters from the production, development, distribution and financing of various scripted television and film projects.
- Negotiating and drafting long form agreements and term sheets relating to the production, development, and exploitation of television and film projects, including agreements with distributors, commissioners, talent, financiers, contributors, advisers, facilities, locations, access agreements and suppliers.
- Making sure that production activities comply with all regulations and applicable laws in the UK and other relevant jurisdictions and territories.
- Advising on film financing and programme structures, such as bank-financed models/deficit, and you will provide legal and business affairs advice on regulatory frameworks, incentives and production structures.
- Collaborating efficiently with various departments including production, creative, finance, marketing and distribution.
- Assisting in the development of relationships and partnerships between the business and third parties across the UK television and film landscape.
This role focuses on scripted projects that are produced outside of the UK, but support on unscripted projects and/or US matters will be needed occasionally.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A 5 years PQE (minimum) qualified lawyer.
- Extensive hands-on experience and expertise of the production, distribution and development of scripted feature films and television.
- A good understanding of union agreements/UK guild in the UK and a good familiarity with the US equivalents.
- An established relationship with top entertainment law films and talent agencies in the UK.
- Excellent level of written and organisational/oral skills.
