EMPLOYMENT LAWYER
PART TIME (3 DAYS PER WEEK), PERMANENT
LONDON, HYBRID ROLE
We have an exciting new role to join a leading media company that represents a world-class, multi-genre portfolio of outstanding programming.
Our client is seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer to join their HR and Legal and Business Affairs teams, to provide advice and support to the centralised group corporate teams, along with the production brands which are part of the UK group.
Good communication is key in this role, as you will be working in a creative company, and skill in facilitating the smooth running of a business that consists of different brands and cultures. Problem solving and working autonomously are also pivotal.
Key Responsibilities might include:
- Managing cases relating to employment issues, which would include litigation and the drafting of responses to complainants and their lawyers.
- Negotiating, drafting, and reviewing terms relating to employment contracts.
- Managing, overseeing, and identifying areas of potential worker/employment related risk on productions for all labels, and helping to guide HR and the LBA team in risk management, as well as helping to make decisions to escalate to HR or others where required.
- Helping to advise and review on the best practices for worker/employee related issues and training involving such practices.
- Advising HR on various issues such as settlement agreements, grievance handling, and terminations.
- Maintaining excellent relationships to become a trusted advisor within the corporate team and labels.
- Lead and support on Data Subject Access Requests.
- Provide solutions on various issues within productions or the business.
- Overseeing investigations within HR.
- Work with HR to ensure all people related policies are effective and up to date.
- Support on M&A deals, which would involve the review of due diligence documents, as well as drafting and negotiating service agreements.
- Update the business on all related legal and employment issues, including pending legislative policies.
- Guidance on employee status from tax perspectives.
- You will work at a senior level with conciseness, a positive outlook, credibility and tact.
Knowledge and Skills
- Ideally 6 years PQE and above (must be legally qualified)
- An employment lawyer from in-house or private practice
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Problem solver
- Commercial awareness
- TV industry knowledge ideally
- A recognition of freelancer employment issues
