ABOUT THE ROLE
A leading international television studio is seeking a highly organised and proactive Business & Legal Affairs Paralegal to join its central BLA team on a 12-month contract. This role offers exceptional exposure to the development, production, and financing of scripted television projects, working across a broad slate that includes premium dramas, returning series, and high-profile international collaborations.

You will provide essential administrative, contractual, and systems-based support to the Business & Legal Affairs team, becoming a key point of coordination between legal, production, finance, and US-based sister studios. This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated paralegal or aspiring legal professional to deepen their understanding of scripted television deals from the ground up.

The company is committed to an ambitious, inclusive future, with a culture built on collaboration, integrity, and accessibility. Adjustments throughout the recruitment process can be provided on request.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Systems & Process Management

  • Maintain and update internal databases to reflect project status, negotiations, deal terms, and closed agreements.
  • Track key deadlines, ensuring timely renewals and follow-ups.
  • Run reports on writer agreements, rights options, and other deal categories; support research tasks using industry tools.
  • Update deal trackers, process documentation, and internal policies.
  • Liaise with coordinators and admin teams across internal production companies and partner studios to ensure consistency in processes and provide training where needed.
  • Work closely with IT to support efficient use of studio systems.

Contract Administration

  • Manage invoice submissions and track payments through the approval workflow, resolving any issues promptly.
  • Support team meetings by preparing agendas and taking notes.
  • Assist with guild reporting (WGA, DGA, SAG) and coordinate with US counterparts as required.
  • Oversee contract execution, including issuing final copies, arranging signatures, and ensuring documents are appropriately stored and processed.

Production Support

  • Maintain production checklists and document trackers.
  • Support the management of talent approvals, exception lists, and production restrictions.
  • Attend production meetings, preparing agendas and notes.
  • Provide ad hoc assistance across active productions.

General Legal Support

  • Prepare summaries of closed deals, including development, commissioning, and distribution agreements.
  • Assist with drafting tasks such as amendments, side letters, option extensions, and turnaround letters.
  • Support chain-of-title reviews and respond to related queries.
  • Undertake broader paralegal tasks to support the team as required.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Paralegal experience, ideally with some form of legal training (qualification not essential).
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent systems management capabilities.
  • Experience summarising contracts, including those involving rights licensing and acquisitions.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Demonstrated interest in scripted television and the legal frameworks that underpin development and production.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in drafting and documentation.
  • A collaborative, positive, and adaptable team member with a “no job too big or small” attitude.
  • Strong communicator who can work effectively with diverse teams and production personnel.
  • Resourceful, curious, ethical, and highly motivated to learn and contribute in a fast-moving environment.
