IP/COMMERCIAL OR MEDIA LAWYER
MEDIA/TV PRODUCTION (NQ-2 YEARS’ PQE)

A leading production company is seeking a lawyer/ legal and business affairs executive to join its team. This role supports the legal & business affairs aspects of developing  and producing a diverse slate of high-profile unscripted, scripted, and factual programming.
 
About the Role
This position offers the chance to work on critically acclaimed and commercially successful projects, from specialist factual documentaries and scripted series to popular unscripted programs. You’ll provide expert legal and business affairs advice, helping production teams navigate contracts, compliance, and complex agreements.
 
Key responsibilities include:

  • Drafting and negotiating production contracts such as talent, access, location, and rights agreements.
  • Advising on compliance, including Ofcom regulations, rights issues, and defamation/privacy matters.
  • Managing agreements with broadcasters, co-producers, financiers, and distributors.
  • Assisting in rights management for secondary exploitation and back-catalogue distribution.
  • Collaborating with production teams and providing solutions to legal and commercial challenges.

 
What We're Looking For

  • Qualifications: A qualified solicitor or equivalent  (NQ-2 PQE) with commercial IP or media experience.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of IP and contract law, excellent drafting and negotiation skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Traits: A team player with strong commercial instincts and exceptional communication skills.
  • Experience: Previous experience in the television or media industry is highly desirable.
